Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo play the fated couple in this 2018 National Theatre production. Simon Godwin (Twelfth Night, Man and Superman, The Beaux’ Stratagem) directs a spectacle set in Ancient Rome and Alexandria, Egypt.

Caesar and his assassins are dead. General Mark Antony now rules alongside the triumvirate, his fellow defenders of Rome. But on the fringes of a war-torn Empire, the seductive Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and Roman hero Mark Antony fall madly in love. Antony forsakes his leadership of the Roman Empire to stay close to the Queen. Overcome by divided loyalties, he rushes headlong into war and tragedy.

Monica became a key underwriter of Simon Godwin’s monumental production. It was staged first at the National in London but later was also beamed on NT Live to movie theaters around the world and is offered to schools in the UK and the US.
