Sleep no more…..The audience is caught up in the ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war. Ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled to seize the crown by forces of elemental darkness.
Shakespeare’s most intense and terrifying tragedy was directed in 2017 by the artistic leader of the National Theatre, Sir Rufus Norris. He projected a post-apocalyptical setting for the warring Scots, starring Rory Kinnear as Macbeth and Anne-Marie Duff playing Lady Macbeth.
The National Theatre under Sir Rufus Norris and Nick Hytner created the blockbusters Warhorse (which traveled worldwide) and History Boys (remade as a movie) One Man Two Guvnors, (which launched James Corden’s career in the US) and Network.
Monica underwrote the production’s harrowing costumes, props and settings, created in the workshops on the National Theatre.
